How do you choose the right study?

It takes a bit of thought and research to find the right programme. The Hague University of Applied Sciences organizes various activities throughout the year to give you the best possible idea of the various study’s offered. You also learn what it’s like to study at THUAS. This way, you can click on the registration button without a doubt in your mind. Or you’ll know for certain it’s not right for you.

The overview shows the various study choice activities for different situations. But feel free to deviate! You are always welcome to take a study choice test or attend an Open Day. The choice is yours!

Unsure what to study? It can often be difficult to find the programme that is right for you. The study choice test helps you figure out which programme you would enjoy most. Go to the study choice test

Attend an Open Day

During our Open Days, you can explore our buildings and campus. You can also attend a presentation by the study’s you are considering and talk to students and lecturers.The Open Day page contains all the dates and a registration link for the next Open Day.

Meet with a study choice counsellor

If you would like to discuss your questions or uncertainties on an individual basis, the study choice counsellor would be happy to help point you in the right direction with objective advice. He or she can explore your interests and ambitions together with you. This one-on-one session takes around one hour and is free of charge. You can schedule a meeting using the registration form or simply stop by the counter in the main building.

Attend the Pre-Student Hour

If you are enrolled in the fourth year of senior general secondary education, fifth year of pre-university education or third year of your senior secondary vocational education, you are welcome to attend the Pre-Student Hour. Every Thursday afternoon (except during school and public holidays) between mid-October and mid-April, THUAS students give prospective students a guided tour of the building and talk to them about choosing a programme. Our website contains detailed information on all study’s. Learn which subjects you’ll get, what occupations you can pursue, the various internship possibilities and enrolment information.

Attend a study choice workshop

Still can’t decide between two or more study’s? During the study choice workshop, you carry out creative assignments in order to learn more about the programme you are interested in. The workshop has a maximum of 12 participants. If you want to attend the workshop, use this form to register and see when the workshops will be held.

Attend an Orientation Programme

During the Orientation Programme you and other prospective students spend the day taking adapted lectures relevant to the programme you are considering. You get to meet students and lecturers and get acquainted with the different teaching formats. Want to attend an Orientation Programme? Register in advance.

Spend a day shadowing

If you spend a day shadowing you can experience first-hand what it’s like to study at THUAS. You attend regular lectures, join real working groups and see how students interact with each other and lecturers on a daily basis. You are paired up with one of our students for the entire day. Are you thinking about switching to a different programme? Or are you currently working and would you like to go back to school? Our study choice counsellor would be happy to help you figure out the next step. He or she can explore your interests and ambitions together with you and provide independent advice. You may be asked to do the occupation test during the meeting or may be advised afterwards to attend a study choice workshop. You can schedule a meeting using the registration form or simply stop by our counter in the main building.
