Tuition fees 2018-2019
On this page, you'll find information on the tuition fees for the academic year 2018-2019.
Statutory rate 2018-2019: € 2,060
If you meet the nationality requirement and you never obtained a degree from any university or university of applied sciences in the Netherlands before , then you pay the statutory rate.
Keep in mind: The United Kingdom will leave the European Union (EU). Students with a British nationality will pay the statutory rate as long as the United Kingdom is still in the EU. This situation will not change until further notice.
Reduced statutory rate 2018-2019: € 1,030
Do you qualify for the statutory rate and are you entering Dutch higher education for the first time in the 2018/2019 academic year? Then you will be charged the reduced fee for your first year of enrolment (first two years if you are starting our Dutch-taught teacher education programmes in 2018-2019). Please note, after this period you will have to pay the full statutory rate. You can find more information on the website of the government.
Institutional rate 2018-2019: € 8,050
If you do not meet all of the requirements for the statutory rate, you will have to pay the institutional rate, in accordance with section 7.46 of the Wet op het hoger onderwijs en wetenschappelijk onderzoek (WHW) (Law on Higher Education and Scientific research, only available in Dutch).
The amount of the institutional fee is set annually by the Executive Board after advice of the University Council. The criteria on which The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) bases the amount of the institutional fee are:
- the statutory fee and the government funding the institution would have received otherwise;
- ensuring accessibility;
- simplicity and transparency.
 This means that you are a national of a country that is part of the European Union (EU), or of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Suriname or Switzerland. You are also covered by the nationality requirement if you qualify for a student grant, based on your residence permit.
 This means that, at the beginning of your bachelor programme, you did not yet obtain a Bachelor's or an equivalent degree at a government-funded institution in the Netherlands. Exception: you do not have to meet this requirement if this is the first time you register for a study programme in either education or health care.
