Cancellation of your (re-)enrolment

As from 1 September, it is no longer possible to cancel your enrolment for the academic year free of charge. However, it is possible to terminate your enrolment during the academic year 2016-2017.

Termination of your enrolment 

If you wish to terminate your enrolment during the academic year 2016-2017 (because you have graduated or because you wish to quit for any other reason), you can submit an application for termination of enrolment at any time from 1 September 2016.

Note: you will be enrolled (at least) to the last day of the calendar month in which you submit your application for termination of enrolment. This means that you can terminate your enrolment on the first day of the month following the month in which you submit your application for termination of enrolment at the earliest. 

A request to terminate your enrolment has to be submitted through Studielink. Please make sure that you log into studielink via a computer/laptop. Not a smartphone or tablet!

  • Go to your Studielink and log in to your account. 
  • Go to 'My enrolments'.
  • Go to the enrolment you want to terminate.
  • Under 'Possible actions for this enrolment', select ‘Application for termination of enrolment'.
  • State the reason why you want to terminate your enrolment.
  • State the month in which you want to terminate your enrolment. (If you want to quit as quickly as possible, enter the very next month.

Arrow We recommend that you store the Studielink confirmation of your application of for termination of enrolment carefully. 

Your application for termination of enrolment will be processed by The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Via Studielink you will receive a confirmation of the termination of your enrolment. 

Note: in contrast to previous years, retrospective termination of enrolment is not possible (regardless of the reason of termination). 

Graduation

On this page you'll find important information you need on terminating your enrolment if you are graduated from The Hague University of Applied Sciences. 

Tuition fees

You don't have to pay tuition fees for the months during which you are not enrolled.

  • Did you pay your tuition fees in one instalment? Then you will be refunded 1/12th of the tuition fees for each month during which you are not enrolled. 
  • Do you pay your tuition fees in nine instalments? Then the instalments you already paid will be deducted from the total amount due. Any overpayment will be refunded

Exceptions:

Arrow Did you receive a Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees (Bewijs Betaald Collegegeld) from The Hague University of Applied Sciences (because you're also studying at another university in the Netherlands)? Then you can only terminate your enrolment if you hand in the original Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees or a proof of termination from the other university in which you studied (in the Netherlands) at the Enrolment Centre. Please let us know as of which date you wish to be disenrolled. 

ArrowAre you terminating your enrolment as of 1 July or 1 August? Then you are not entitled to a refund of tuition fees. 

Note: although Studielink does allow you to enter an account number for refund of tuition fees, The Hague University of Applied Sciences will only transfer refunds to the account number from which the tuition fees were debited.

Student grants and student public transport chip card 

Once you have terminated your enrolment, you are longer entitled to student grants and the student public transport chip card. You therefore need to make sure that you cancel your own student financing as well as deactivate your own student public transport chip card on time. More information can be found on the website of DUO (formerly IB-Groep). 

Important information for residence permit holders 

Termination of enrolment can effect your residence permit. Please contact our Enrolment Centre if you have any questions concerning this subject.
