Cancellation of your (re-)enrolment
As of 1 September, it is no longer possible to cancel your enrolment for the academic year free of charge. However, it is possible to terminate your enrolment in the course of the current academic year.
Termination of your enrolment
If you wish to terminate your enrolment in the course of the current academic year (because you have graduated or because you wish to stop your studies for another reason), you can submit an application for termination of enrolment at any time.
Note: you will be enrolled (at least) until the last day of the calendar month in which you submit your application for termination of enrolment. This means that you can terminate your enrolment on the first day of the month following the month in which you submit your application for termination of enrolment at the earliest.
A request to terminate your enrolment has to be submitted through Studielink. Please make sure that you log into Studielink via a computer/laptop. Not a smartphone or tablet!
- Go to your Studielink and log in to your account.
- Go to 'My enrolments'.
- Go to the enrolment you wish to terminate.
- Under 'Possible actions for this enrolment', select ‘Application for termination of enrolment'.
- Indicate the reason why you wish to terminate your enrolment.
- Indicate the month in which you want to terminate your enrolment. (If you want to discontinue your enrolment as soon as possible, please select the very next month.
We recommend that you save the confirmation of your application of for termination of enrolment that Studielink will send you.
Your application for termination of enrolment will be processed by The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Via Studielink you will receive a confirmation of the termination of your enrolment.
You don't have to pay tuition fees for the months during which you are not enrolled.
- Did you pay your tuition fees in one instalment? Then you will be refunded 1/12th of the lump sum for each month during which you are not enrolled.
- Do you pay your tuition fees in nine instalments? Then the instalments you already paid will be deducted from he total amount due. Any overpayment will be refunded.
Did you receive a Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees (Bewijs Betaald Collegegeld) from The Hague University of Applied Sciences (because you're also studying at another university in the Netherlands)? Then you can only terminate your enrolment if you hand in the original Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees or a proof of termination from the other university in which you studied (in the Netherlands) at the Enrolment Centre. Please let us know as of which date you wish to terminate your enrolment.
Are you terminating your enrolment as of 1 July or 1 August? Then you are not entitled to any refund of tuition fees.
Note: although Studielink allows you to enter any account number for refund of tuition fees, The Hague University of Applied Sciences will only transfer refunds to the account number from which the tuition fees were debited.

Student grants and student public transport chip card
Once your enrolment has been terminated, you are no longer entitled to student financing (studiefinanciering) and student public transport card (studentenreisproduct). Make sure that you cancel your student financing and student public transport card on time. For more information, please visit the website of DUO( Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs).
Important information for residence permit holders
