Admission Requirements

You can only be enrolled if you meet the entry requirements of the programme you intend to follow. Please check the programme pages for further information.

English language skills

All international programmes are taught entirely in English. You’ll need a good command of the English language, both spoken and written. No additional evidence of sufficient command of the English language is required if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • You were educated in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, Canada (except for Quebec!), Australia, New-Zealand, South Africa or Malta
  • You hold a diploma (including English as an exam subject) stated on this diploma list

All other prospective students are required to hand in a valid and sufficient TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, or Cambridge ESOL (CPE/CAE/FCE) certificate to the Enrolment Centre. The certificate must not be older than two year at the start of the study year. Please refer to the following table for the required minimum scores:

European Studies (4 year programme)
International Business (4 year programme)
International Public Management  
International & European Law
Process & Food Technology (4 year programme)
Safety & Security Management Studies
 
 
For these programmes the following minimum scores apply:

- IELTS:6.0 overall
- TOEFL internet based test: 80
- TOEFL paper delivered test: 60
- TOEIC: 670 (listening and reading) and 290 (speaking and writing)
- Cambridge English: 169 (and grade A, B or C)

For these programmes the   following minimum scores apply:
- IELTS: 6.0 overall, and 6.0 for each subscore
- TOEFL internet based test: 80, and 20 for each subscore
- TOEFL paper delivered test: 60, and 20 for each subscore
- TOEIC: 670 (listening and reading) and 290 (speaking and writing)
- Cambridge English: 169 (and grade A, B or C), and 169 for each individual paper

Need help with your English language skills?

If you have not quite reached the level you need to enrol for a degree but your results are promising, then you can enrol in our English Prep School. On completion of a six months or full year programme, you will be ready to join a bachelor programme, and you’ll have learned a lot about the Netherlands, The Hague and THUAS.

Academic entry requirements
