Financial Inclusion and New Entrepreneurship

To facilitate active participation in society, people need access to financial services. The society we live in is becoming increasingly diverse and mobility and social media are providing new opportunities for entrepreneurs, who are no longer bound to a particular location and happy to cross borders to explore new markets. As a result, people increasingly combine work and entrepreneurship. These hybrid forms of entrepreneurship demand that we take a new look at financial support.

About the research group

The intention of the Financial Inclusion and New Entrepreneurship (FINE) research group is to provide knowledge about new forms of finance and new, hybrid forms of entrepreneurship, to contribute to a society in which entrepreneurs can make the difference. Research and teaching focuses on students, lecturers and professionals who want to expand their knowledge and understanding of the role of entrepreneurs in society.

The research group aims to achieve the following:

  • To classify and disseminate knowledge of financial inclusion and new entrepreneurship, both nationally and internationally.
  • To design practice-based research with a close link to teaching.
To contribute to the professionalisation of lecturers and researchers of The Hague University of Applied Sciences by ensuring they actively participate in the development of teaching and research.
