Dutch A2

Do you speak and write Dutch on an A2-level?

  • Starts in February 2021 and September 2021
  • Lasts 52 weeks
  • For Dutch you move from level A2 to B2+
  • You receive additional education (math, physics or economy)
  • You develop study skills and project skills
  • You can take part in trial study days (you attend lectures of the study of your choice)
  •  You are being prepared – if necessary – to take the 21+ test.

Dutch B1

Do you speak and write Dutch on a B1-level?

  • Starts in February 2021 and September 2021
  • Lasts 36 weeks at least
  • For Dutch you move from level B1 to B2+
  • You receive additional education (math, physics or economy)
  • You develop study skills and project skills
  • You can take part in trial study days (you attend lectures of the study of your choice)
  • You are being prepared – if necessary – to take the 21+ test.


English from A1-level

For English we start at a minimal level (A1). You take classes on your own level. If you start at a higher level, you can do the IELTS-test towards the end of the Schakeljaar to embark on an English study. If you start at an A2 level, you will take the Cambridge Preliminary Exam

Costs

  • Total costs for programme A2 – B2+: 6.000,-- Euro
  • Total costs for programme B1 – B2+: 4.500,-- Euro

Study costs include the fees for the study books for the core curriculum but they do not include the fees study material for the additional courses will have to be paid by yourself.

Content

Dutch
We will focus on speaking, listening, reading, writing, developing your vocabulary and learning grammar. During the lessons we will spend quite a lot of time discussing the news and Dutch culture. You can follow exam training designed specifically for passing the Nt2 Staatsexamen II.

English
You will improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. You will also be developing your vocabulary and grammar during these lessons.

In case you start at a high level for English, we can offer you lessons that will prepare you for the IELTS Exam. If you start at a lower level, we will prepare you for the Cambridge Preliminary Exam (B1).

Additional courses
We also offer courses in mathematics, or physics or economics in case the study of your choice requires this. However, in order to enroll for these additional courses you need to have some basic knowledge. We also help you to prepare for the admission test at the Hague university of Applied Sciences.

Study skills and attitude
You will train study skills such as cooperation, asking questions, writing reports, giving presentations and giving feedback. You will develop a pro-active, analytical, critical attitude towards your study, all necessary to participate successfully in higher education. These study skills are integrated in the Dutch and English lessons.

Help with you study progress
You will receive personal coaching and support from a mentor. Together with  your mentor you will you will have conversations about your wellbeing and your study progress. There is also a possibility for extra support, such as specific coaching.

Help with your study and career choice
Your mentor will also help you in making the right choice for further studies. To make the right choice,  we will offer you workshops for career orientation.

At the Study & Career Center of The Hague Hogeschool they can help you to explore the options for further studies. Twelve employees, including four study and career counsellors, are ready to help you. Also, you will be encouraged to join the open days, the so-called open lectures and join some courses of the study of your choice.

Intercultural communication and citizenship
Exchange of customs and experiences with your fellow students will regularly take place. We also pay attention to the news, Dutch culture and what it means to study at a Dutch educational institution.

Study load and size of the group
You will need to keep in mind that for the core programme of the Pre-Bachelor you will need to spend approximately 35 hours a week on your studies: 20 of which will be spent on attending tutorials and 15 hours of which will be spent on self-study and group assignments. This calculation does not include the hours for additional courses. As it is quite an intensive programme, the number of students per group will not exceed 20 students.
