English PREP School

The Academic Preparation Course (PREP school) of The Hague University of Applied Sciences will help you acquire the proficiency in English you need for an international education in the Netherlands and the study skills you need in Dutch universities. Our international learning environment and interactive teaching will help you get ready for a successful career in the international classrooms of The Hague’s Bachelors and Masters courses.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

In order to be admitted into the PREP school you need to:

  • be eligible for the follow up programme of your choice
  • have an adequate command of the English language
  • be at least 18 years old at the start of the programme

Minimum requirements
The minimum English requirements for the prep school are mentioned in the table below.

An IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC certificate is valid for two years, the certificate must be valid at the start of the academic year. The Hague University of Applied Sciences does not accept Institutional TOEFL scores, TOEFL ITP scores or any other language test certificates.

Additional requirements:

  • students with a non-EU/EEA nationality need to have a valid residence permit during their study.
  • students with a Chinese nationality need to have applied for a NUFFIC certificate before the deadline.

Application procedure

In order to apply for the PREP school at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) you need to take the following steps:

Step 1

FIll out the online PREP application form.
Upload your documents and submit the application.
Confirm your email address before the 1st of June 2018.

Step 2

The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) will check if you meet the entry requirements for the follow up programme of your choice, and keep you informed about the outcome via email. If you are (conditionally) accepted, you will receive further information, a conditional letter of acceptance including an invoice.

Step 3

If you have a non-EU/EEA nationality, THUAS will inform you about the immigration procedure.

About The Hague

Located in the heart of The Hague, our students get an all-round experience, from galleries packed with Dutch masters to idyllic beaches and parks, and buzzing nightclubs. As the International City of Peace, Justice and Security, The Hague is bursting with international legal institutions. Since 1913, the Peace Palace has been a centre of world justice, hosting the permanent Court of Arbitrations and the International Court of Justice. You'll also find the International Yugoslavia Tribunal, Europol and the International Criminal Court in The Hague, along with many other courts, tribunals and NGOs.
