Let’s be clear about it up front: to keep up with the IBMS programme you will need to be good at maths and have a good command of English. International Business Management Studies has a four-year and a three-year programme, the latter differing only in its duration and study intensity. To qualify for the three-year programme, you will need a secondary school diploma equivalent to that of a higher level Dutch VWO diploma, such as an international Baccalaureate, German Abitur or three British A-levels at grade C, or higher.

Admission requirements

You have a non-Dutch diploma

Before we can decide on your eligibility, we will need to assess your secondary school certificate. To make sure your certificate is evaluated fairly, we work with NUFFIC, an organisation that specialises in the assessment of international education qualifications.

This programme is taught entirely in English. You’ll need a good command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Bachelor candidates who were educated in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, Canada (except for Quebec!), Australia, New-Zealand, South Africa or Malta, or students holding a diploma (including English as an exam subject) stated on this diploma list, need not take an English proficiency test.

If you completed your prior education in another country than those listed above you might still qualify for exemption, if:

On completion of this, you will not only be ready to join a Bachelor class, but you’ll also have learned a lot about the Netherlands, The Hague and our university.

You have a Dutch diploma

All prospective students will be expected to complete an admission procedure. If you meet the admission conditions, you will be invited to attend an interview. This interview will last 30 minutes and will be conducted in English. Based on the information obtained from the interview, the faculty will issue an opinion on whether you have the qualities necessary to take part in the accelerated three-year programme for the International Business & Management Studies degree programme.
Please note: you will first have to apply for the standard four-year IBMS degree programme in Studielink. During the intake process, we will invite all students that meet the admission requirements to attend a special interview for the three-year programme. You will be able to indicate your wish to do the three-year programme at this point.
There can be no exceptions made to the official admission requirements. The Central Student Enrolment Office is the only agency that can arrive at decisions regarding your qualification for admission as based on the official regulations.
