International Business 4 years, 2019-2020

You have a Dutch diploma

To begin the four-year IB bachelor's degree programme, you’ll need a HAVO or VWO diploma with the appropriate profile. For some profiles, certain subjects are required. You can also gain admission with a MBO (level 4) diploma.

Niveau 4, middenkader- of specialistenopleiding

You have a non-Dutch diploma

To enrol for the IB 4 year programme you will need a secondary school diploma comparable to a Dutch HAVO diploma and a good command of English.

Before we can decide on your eligibility, we’ll need to assess your secondary school certificate.
To make sure your certificate is evaluated fairly, we work with NUFFIC, an organisation that specialises in the assessment of international education qualifications.

English and mathematics are strongly recommended for MBO students. The most suitable profile for either HAVO and VWO is E&M.

Pay attention: With effect from the academic year 2020-2021 there will be additional requirements for the HAVO C&M profile. One of the following subjects is required: Economics, Management & Organization, Business Economics, Mathematics A or Mathematics B.

This programme is taught entirely in English. Bachelor’s candidates educated in the Netherlands, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada (Quebec when the education language is English), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Malta, or students holding one of these diplomas (including English as an exam subject), don’t need to take an English proficiency test.

All other prospective students are required to present a valid and sufficient TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS (less than two years old at the start of the academic year) or Cambridge (CAE or CPE) certificate to the Enrolment Centre. See our language requirements for more information.

English proficiency test scores required:

  • IELTS Academic 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT 80
  • Cambridge FCE: Grade B scale 173-175 | Grade C scale 169-172

Please note: THUAS does not accept Institutional TOEFL scores, TOEFL ITP scores or any other language test certificates.

If you have taken the TOEFL English proficiency test, please let THUAS check your results online to verify your TOEFL certificate. Our institution code is 7042.

If you completed your prior education in another country than those listed, you might still qualify for exemption, if:

  • you have an American or International High School Diploma, or
  • you have a European or International Baccalaureate Diploma

Please contact the Enrolment Centre and ask for details.

If you have not quite reached the level you need to enrol for a degree, but your results are promising, we offer the Prep School programme. This can be taken for six months or one year. On successful completion of this course, you should be ready to join a bachelor’s and will know a lot more about the Netherlands, The Hague and our university.
For this programme, you are eligible with any "profiel", there are no required subjects
If you’re 21 before the 1 September 2019 but don’t have a diploma or a qualification that meets the entry requirements, you can take the 21+ Admissions Test. The 21+ Admissions Test will be offered at several dates in Spring 2019 and consists of a general capacity test. Please note that you can only participate if you have an EEA-nationality or residence permit for the Netherlands that is valid on the test date.

There are no exceptions to the official admission requirements. The Enrolment Office is the only party that can make decisions regarding your qualification for admission based on official regulations. You can’t rely on any other sources of information for your qualification for admission.
