International Business - English - 3 years - Full-time

How do you bring Dutch products to international markets, or make your business more profitable and efficient? Global companies are looking for commercial talent to get results. With the financial meltdown of 2008, the Volkswagen’s exposé in 2015 and a declining newspaper readership, it’s safe to say that the world is in need of business experts who can turn ideas into businesses. And that is where you’ll come in as a prospective student of International Business (former IBMS) at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS). This three-year programme will help you gain knowledge, skills and proficiency in international markets to prepare you for a future in the world of international trade.

Admission

Admission requirements

You have a non-Dutch diploma

Let’s be clear about it up front. To keep up with the International Business (IB) programme you’ll need to be good at maths and have a good command of English. To qualify for the intensive three-year programme, you’ll need a secondary school diploma equivalent to that of a higher level Dutch VWO diploma, such as an international Baccalaureate, German Abitur, or three British A-levels at grade C or higher. Before we can decide on your eligibility, we’ll need to assess your secondary school certificate. To make sure your certificate is evaluated fairly, we work with NUFFIC, an organisation that specialises in the assessment of international education qualification

This programme is taught entirely in English. You’ll need a good command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Bachelor’s candidates who are educated in the Netherlands, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada (Quebec only when the education language is English), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or Malta, or students holding a diploma (including English as an exam subject) stated on this diploma list, don't need to take an English proficiency test.

All other prospective students are required to hand in a valid and sufficient TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, or Cambridge (CAE or CPE)  certificate at the Enrolment Centre. The TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS certificate must not be older than two years at the start of the study year.

See our Language requirements for more information.

Please note: THUAS does not accept Institutional TOEFL scores, TOEFL ITP scores or any other language test certificates.
If you take (or have taken) the TOEFL English proficiency test, please let THUAS check your online results to verify your TOEFL certificate. Our Institution Code is 7042.

If you completed your prior education in a country other than those listed above, you might still qualify for exemption if:

  • you have an American or International High School Diploma, or
  • you have an European or International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Please contact the Enrolment Centre and ask for details.

If you have not quite reached the level you need to enrol for a degree but your results are promising, we offer an the Prep School programme. This can be taken for six months or one year. On completion of this course, you’ll not only be ready to join a bachelor’s, but you’ll also have learnt a lot about the Netherlands, The Hague and our university.

You have a Dutch diploma

All prospective students must complete the admission procedures. If you meet the admission requirements, you'll be invited to an interview. This interview will last 30 minutes and will be conducted in English. The faculty will then decide whether you have the qualities necessary to take part in the accelerated three-year International Business (IB) programme (former IBMS).
Please note: You'll first have to apply for the standard four-year International Business (IB) degree programme in Studielink. During the intake process, we'll invite all students that meet the admission requirements to attend the interview. You'll be able to indicate that you wish to do the three-year programme at this point.
There are no exceptions to the official admission requirements. The Enrolment Office is the only party that can make decisions regarding your qualification for admission based on official regulations. You can’t rely on any other sources of information for your qualification for admission.
