International Business - English - 3 years - Full-time

How do you bring Dutch products to international markets, or make your business more profitable and efficient? Global companies are looking for commercial talent to get results. With the financial meltdown of 2008, the Volkswagen’s exposé in 2015 and a declining newspaper readership, it’s safe to say that the world is in need of business experts who can turn ideas into businesses. And that is where you’ll come in as a prospective student of International Business (former IBMS) at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS). This three-year programme will help you gain knowledge, skills and proficiency in international markets to prepare you for a future in the world of international trade.

Admission requirements

You have a non-Dutch diploma

Let’s be clear about it up front. To keep up with the International Business (IB) programme you’ll need to be good at maths and have a good command of English. To qualify for the intensive three-year programme, you’ll need a secondary school diploma equivalent to that of a higher level Dutch VWO diploma, such as an international Baccalaureate, German Abitur, or three British A-levels at grade C or higher. Before we can decide on your eligibility, we’ll need to assess your secondary school certificate. To make sure your certificate is evaluated fairly, we work with NUFFIC, an organisation that specialises in the assessment of international education qualification

This programme is taught entirely in English. You’ll need a good command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Bachelor’s candidates who are educated in the Netherlands, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada (Quebec only when the education language is English), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or Malta, or students holding a diploma (including English as an exam subject) stated on this diploma list, don't need to take an English proficiency test.

All other prospective students are required to hand in a valid and sufficient language test.

Please check our Admission requirements for more information.

If you completed your prior education in a country other than those listed above, you might still qualify for exemption if:

  • you have an American or International High School Diploma, or
  • you have an European or International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Please contact the Enrolment Centre and ask for details.

If you have not quite reached the level you need to enrol for a degree but your results are promising, we offer an the Prep School programme. This can be taken for six months or one year. On completion of this course, you’ll not only be ready to join a bachelor’s, but you’ll also have learnt a lot about the Netherlands, The Hague and our university.

To begin the 3-year bachelor's degree programme in International Business, you should have a vwo-diploma.
There is no Admission Test 21+ (Dutch) for the three-year programme. Please take a look at our four-year IB programme instead.
If you received a VWO diploma before 2010, your diploma will be assessed individually to see if you qualify for admission. If you have any questions, you can contact the Enrolment Office by completing the contact form.
