About the library

The Hague University of Applied Sciences has a central library in the main building on Laakhaven and locations on Laan van Poot, in Zoetermeer and in Delft. The library’s study and workspaces, information sources and services are available to all the students and staff of The Hague University of Applied Sciences.

Collections

THUAS Library has an immense collection of current sources of information relating to all the disciplines taught at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. 

Its extremely extensive digital collection of e-books, e-journals, theses and visual material can be accessed from more than 100 databases that THUAS Library is licensed to make available. Items from the physical collection are available for consulting or borrowing at the library at which they are kept.

The library catalogue contains the titles of all items available for loan. A Simultaneous search will provide you with the availability of physical items available for loan as well as items in the digital collection.

Services

In addition to borrowing, reserving and renewing book materials, the THUAS Library offers an extensive range of support services for locating the right digital information as well as physical journals, etc. The library has even developed its own ILS curriculum of workshops and training activities to teach the information literacy skills(zie…link naar dit gedeelte op de website)  needed to optimise the use of items in the collection. In addition, THUAS Library supports research activities, keeps the academic staff up to date in their own disciplines, and promotes compliance with copyright legislation.  

Information per branch

Central library

The library offers an up-to-date collection of books, a large and broad collection of database, journals, theses, from nearly all study programs, educational videos / DVDs, e-books and much more. 

Library items can be loaned and returned using the special self-service machine. Students use their student card to operate it, staff members can apply for a library card. 

Please contact the desk if you have any questions about operating the machine or experience problems. The desk is also the place to go for payments.

Delft branch library

The Delft branch library is an unstaffed library that has a basic collection of books and journals specialised in technology. This location also provides a self-service facility for borrowing and returning materials and a limited number of quiet workplaces, and copying and printing facilities.

Laan van Poot branch library

The Laan van Poot branch library is a staffed library that has 4,500 titles; 40 journals specialised in sports, education and sports management; 40 workspaces and 8 computer workstations. Copying and printing facilities are also available here.

Zoetermeer branch library

The Zoetermeer branch library is an unstaffed library that has a basic collection of books and journals specialising in technology, a self-service option for borrowing and returning materials, and a limited number of quiet places for reading. Copying and printing facilities are also available here.
