A new global ethics framework for trustworthy AI
The complete AI Global Frameworks by AI4People have been unveiled in December 2021. The new Global AI Frameworks for seven strategic sectors establish principles for the implementation of trustworthy and ethical AI, aspiring in this way to contribute to an emerging vision of a ‘good AI society’. Professor Lampros Stergioulas, leader of the Data Science research group, is one of the 46 members of the high-level expert committees who co-authored the frameworks.
AI4people was launched in 2018 at the European Parliament, as a multi-stakeholder forum bringing together all actors interested in shaping the social impact of new applications of AI, including the European Commission, the European Parliament, civil society organisations, industry and the media. The goal of AI4People is to help lay out the founding principles, policies and practices on which to build a good AI society.
The new Global AI Frameworks for seven strategic sectors (Automotive, Banking & Finance, Energy, Healthcare, Insurance, Legal Service Industry, Media & Technology) establish principles for the implementation of trustworthy and ethical AI in those industries where the potential benefits and risks of AI for human flourishing are the most pronounced, aspiring in this way to contribute to an emerging vision of a ‘good AI society’.
High-level expert committees co-authored the frameworks. The Committees include 46 members, all of them from Europe and USA. Prof. Lampros Stergioulas, THUAS: "It is a great honour to serve as a member in the AI4People expert committees, and I am delighted to see the new AI Global Frameworks now published in full. Such initiatives will hopefully help us to build common global policies and regulatory frameworks to ensure that the emerging AI technologies benefit our societies and humanity as a whole. "
The expert group has entered its fourth year of activity with the organisation of ‘AI4People’s Conversations’. The first of these events took place earlier this month [December 2021] on the theme of ‘AI Certification’. See updates on future actions at https://www.eismd.eu/2022-initiatives/
