UPDATE COVID 19: as of 30 August, most educational activities back on campus!

We are very happy to announce that the press conference on Friday 13 August confirmed that the baseline scenario for higher education will go into effect on 30 August. In this scenario, we will no longer apply the 1.5-metre measures and only maintain the maximum group size of 75 people in one teaching area.

In other words, most educational activities can resume on location. Of course, we can now benefit from all the knowledge and experience we acquired from blended learning during the recent past. However, due to the maximum group size per classroom or teaching area, the large group lectures in the first semester will remain exclusively online. Nevertheless, we are delighted to welcome everyone back to THUAS!

Do I wear a facemask or not?

As of 30 August, it will be mandatory again to wear a facemask at THUAS. The same principle applies as before the measures were reduced: a facemask is only mandatory when moving through the buildings of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, or when you find yourself in transit areas. For example, in corridors, when entering and leaving the premises, in lifts, cafeterias and while waiting in queues. Once you have reached your destination, you can remove your facemask. However, those who wish to wear a facemask during class are free to do so.

Taking responsibility

In the first semester, please use self-tests before coming to THUAS, preferably twice a week. Contrary to earlier information, the self-tests can be ordered from SURF's ordering portal at least until September. Self-tests will also be available at all of our campuses. Are you returning from a holiday abroad? Please follow the recommendations for the colour codes of the country where you spent your holiday. Go into quarantine, if necessary.

We all have to do our part to keep the virus under control. This also means that in the coming period we will have to remind each other of the measures in place. Never hesitate to approach a student or colleague, as long as you do this with understanding and respect.

Vaccinating on our campus

To keep the virus under control, it's important that as many people as possible are vaccinated. Have you not yet been vaccinated, but would like to be? On Thursday 19 and 26 August and 2 September, students and staff members can get vaccinated by the GGD on our campus at the Johanna Westerdijkplein. To check your eligibility for the shot at THUAS and/or to register immediately for one of the dates, go to the registration form. If you can't make it on one of these dates, please check the governments website Walk-in vaccination centre

It promises to be a great academic year

This positive decision provides a good start to what promises to be a great academic year! Will you be returning to THUAS after the summer? Be sure to grab a goodie bag: these will be handed out at the entrances of all our campuses from 30 August onwards. We hope to see you soon.

Kind regards,
The Executive Board,
Elisabeth Minnemann, Hans Camps, Rajash Rawal
