Centre of Expertise Global Governance International Women’s Day podcast

A special Women’s Day edition of the Global Gossip podcast is out today. In a conversation with the leading ladies of the Hague University of Applied Sciences Centre of Expertise on Global Governance, we ask: Where are the women?

The Centre of Expertise on Global Governance connects the research groups of our host, Dr. Mendeltje van Keulen with those of Dr. Alanna O’Malley, leading lector Dr. Barbara Warwas, and Dr.  Sylvia Bergh in a conversation confronting the challenges of women in global governance with Global Gossip Hosts Mendeltje van Keulen and Ruud Schapenk.

Within the Global Governance centre, lecturers work together on making institutions work at street level, connecting academia with (future) professionals, making the structures and concepts of governance accessible. This podcast discusses past experiences and current projects, as well as the professional and personal passion our guests share to make the world a better place. After all, both the UN, the European Union as well as traditional regulatory institutions are known for their soft and ineffective modes of problem solving. Formal rules as well as historical paths often have to be bent to build informal trust. Applied research is leading that conversation and making the connection to foster participation of all societal groups in global governance. Or, as one of our professors put it “the only way to change is: do it.”

The podcast is now live on both Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
