Rajash Rawal appointed member of the Executive Board as of 1 September
Rajash Rawal, currently the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Organisation at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, has been appointed a member of the Executive Board at THUAS starting 1 September. Rajash is replacing Susana Menéndez who held the position for ten years and is stepping down on 1 September.
New Board Member at The Hague University of Applied Sciences from own ranks
Rajash will be assuming Susana’s portfolio, which includes education, internationalisation, research and innovation. After a meticulous interview process conducted by an external recruitment agency, Rajash proved to be the best candidate for the profile, which included active experience in education (or educational innovation), an eye for diversity and global citizenship, knowledge of and a vision on practice-based research within a university of applied sciences and extensive experience (management level and otherwise) in an international context.
Rajash has been affiliated with The Hague University of Applied Sciences in various capacities for 20 years starting as an exchange student, then as a lecturer/researcher for the European Studies degree programme (called HEBO at the time) and currently as Faculty Dean. Two major themes in Rajash’s career, both previously and during his time at THUAS, are teaching/lecturing and internationalisation. Rajash has developed an extensive knowledge in both areas and has a highly active, international academic network.
His strong ties to the organisation on various levels make him the perfect candidate for this position. He was actively involved in the development of two of our most important vision documents for coming years, our educational vision and framework and ‘Research Strengthens’, our research strategy, the core elements and values that are described here, are in his genes.
Leonard Geluk, President of the Executive Board of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, on the appointment: “What I appreciate most about Rajash is his commitment to education and especially to our students. He lives and breathes the role we play as an educational institution in the lives of young people. He knows how to motivate his team to offer these youth the best possible opportunities.”
Rajash’s promotion means that his current position as Dean of the Faculty of Management and Organisation is now vacant. A vacancy announcement will be made shortly.
Rajash is the perfect addition to the Executive Board for areas such as education, research and internationalisation. I expect that he is going to give education a real boost.
The Supervisory Board wishes Rajash much success and enjoyment in his new position.
