Travelling abroad
If you’re a foreign student, and you plan to travel to other countries during your time in the Netherlands, it helps to plan ahead. Contact your consulate or embassy at home well in advance, and ask about the papers and entry requirements for your chosen country.
Usually, you’ll need:
- a valid passport
- a residence permit or visa for the Netherlands
- a health insurance policy
- passport-sized photographs
Most countries will ask that you have at least two months left on your Dutch residence permit or visa, from the start of your trip.
