Residence permits and visas
Exchange students and free movers
Please have a look at the guide for exchange students or free movers. The entire procedure is explained
on
this page.
Prospective students with an EU/EER and Swiss nationality
You do not need a provisional residence permit (visa or MVV in Dutch) or residence permit for the Netherlands. You may, however, wish to register with the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Services. We particularly advise Bulgarian and Romanian students to do so. More information will be provided when you register formally at The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
Prospective students from Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, South Korea, the USA and Vatican City
You do not need a provisional residence permit (visa or MVV in Dutch) to enter the Netherlands, however if you are staying longer than 3 months, you need to apply for a residence permit. As of August 2008 you can only apply for a residence permit for study through The Hague University of Applied Sciences. More information will be provided to you by our International Office, after you have received an offer of student position/letter of acceptance for the programme of your choice.
Prospective students with another nationality
If you have another nationality than mentioned above you need to apply for a provisional residence permit (visa or MVV in Dutch). As of August 2008 you can only apply for a provisional residence permit and residence permit for study through The Hague University of Applied Sciences. More information on this procedure will be provided by the International Office after you have received an offer of student position/letter of acceptance for the programme of your choice. After you have arrived in the Netherlands The Hague University of Applied Sciences will also apply for a residence permit for you.
Prospective students already in the Netherlands
If you are already in the Netherlands and you have a residence permit with the restriction study (at another university then The Hague University of Applied Sciences), or a residence permit as an au-pair you have to apply for a so-called change to restriction.
As of August 2008 this can only be done via The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Please contact the International Office via
immigration@hhs.nl and mention that you need to apply for a change to restriction. Please make sure that you have been (conditionally) accepted into the programme of your choice.
